What’s the difference between American-made Aluminum and Imported Aluminum?
The difference between American-made aluminum and imported aluminum is the alloy and its quality. We use high-quality American-made aluminum extrusions which have strict guidelines. But with imported materials, you can’t be sure what you’re getting.
We use 6005-T5 aluminum. The “6005” part tells you what kind of alloy it is. Our aluminum is actually around 98% aluminum, with around 1% being silicon and less than 1% magnesium. With around 0.5% of trace elements like chromium and iron. That 2% of other elements makes our products especially tough!
The T5 designation tells you how the aluminum was manufactured. T5 essentially means our aluminum has been heat treated to be especially resilient.
Why do some “Made in USA” fences still use imported material?
Some “Made in USA” use imported materials and assemble their products here because it is cheaper. But it can lead to lower quality.
It’s much harder to control the quality of those materials when they’re manufactured halfway across the world. This supply chain split can lead to inconsistencies in qualities. For example, a different aluminum fencer wholesaler might use American-made screws on low-quality aluminum. Sure the panel will stay together, but it might buckle when hit by your lawnmower.

Does American-made aluminum fencing cost more?
American-made aluminum fencing can be a higher upfront investment. However, the federal government is currently adding a 25% tariff to many imported aluminum products.
Tariffs add a lot of price volatility. You never know if a trade partner is going to get a better agreement or get hit with a higher tariff. But sourcing materials domestically keeps our prices stable.
