Aluminum fencing is highly durable, low maintenance, aesthetically appealing, and cost-effective. There is an aluminum fence to complement every home. But which options are right for your home?
With so many options, it can feel overwhelming. So, let’s break down the options so you can enhance your home’s security while boosting its curb appeal.
Start by Understanding Your Needs
What exactly are you looking for? To keep out would-be intruders? To create a secluded outdoor space to enhance your garden’s aesthetics? To provide a safe place for your pets and children to play? Or a combination?
We start by understanding your needs because it will influence your fence’s height and style. Let’s start with height.
Height Plays a Crucial Role in Functionality
- 3-4 Feet: Ideal for decorative purposes, marking property lines, and containing small pets and children. Great additions for gardens and little stone walls.
- 4-5 Feet: Balances security and visibility, suitable for containing pets and children. However, it is short enough that you can still converse with your neighbor.
- 5-6 Feet: Offers enhanced privacy and security for your home— much harder for troublesome teenagers to jump over.
- 6-8 Feet: Provides maximum security but can feel a little imposing for a neighborhood. These are more common among businesses.
If you are set on a 6-foot or taller fence, check in with your homeowner association. Sometimes, they have local ordinances against very tall fences.
How would you describe your style and your home’s aesthetic?
Do you like a combination of rustic elements and modern touches (modern farmhouse)? Then, you might enjoy the rural Appalachian fence panel design.
Are you more industrial— preferring the raw textures of exposed brick and metal? Then Outback and Manhattan are up your alley.
Or do you consider yourself a minimalist, enjoying clean lines, simplicity, and functionality? The Floridian and Carolina styles do just that.
If you loved the Victorian exterior of your home, complement it with the Castle design. If you prefer something more contemporary, try the Sierra.
Or are you a free-spirited bohemian— preferring to mix styles for an eclectic feeling? Then… well, any panel design could go with that.
Use this link to browse the aforementioned designs. However, if you are prioritizing security, then we recommend the Commerical or Extra Picket (XP) designs. If you’re trying to keep your pets in the yard, then opt for a Puppy design. It is defined by tightly packed pickets at the bottom, but it is special because you can blend it with other designs.
Gate Designs
Gates come in designs similar to those of fence panels. All gates can be your choice of Floridian, Sierra, Outback, Manhattan or Appalachian.
Let’s focus on gate functionalities.
- Single swing gates: Most common among yards where a few people are coming and going at a time.
- Double swing gates: These are wider, making them ideal for large yards where you host a lot of people.
- Cantilever gates: Slides instead of swinging, perfect for tight spaces.
- Automatic gates: Ideal for driveways.
Color Choices and Coatings
90% of all aluminum fencing is the classic black. However, we offer an inviting white and an ornamental bronze for those bold enough to try it. It’s your home; express yourself however you wish!
Powder coatings are an extra layer of durability. We recommend them for coastal areas where salty winds may wear them down.
Finishing Touches
Add personality to your fence with finials, caps, and scrolls. These are optional choices that nonetheless contribute to your curb appeal.
Finials
You’ll notice that many panel styles have pointed tops on the pickets. Those are called finials, and they come in four styles.
- Pressed-point spear: The default finial you’ll see in most of our pictures.
- Monarch: A simple fleur-de-lis design— traditional and elegant.
- Victorian: Classy, formal, but not ostentatious.
- Imperial: classic, sleek, never goes out of style.
Scrolls
Scrolls are curved pieces of metal that add artistry and flair. Small scrolls go along the top of panels, while large scrolls go in the center of panels.
Caps
Caps go on the top of posts. The most common are the simple, sleek, flat-topped caps. However, there are also ball caps for a more sophisticated look.
Solar post caps illuminate your fence line at night, enhancing visibility and security. They are eco-friendly, energy-efficient, and don’t require any additional wiring.
We know there is a lot to choose from, but we’re here to help! If you have a vision in mind, let’s make it happen.
